What Is Bike New London?

Bike New London is a not for profit group based in New London, Connecticut.  We formed in 2009 with a mission to make New London a more bicycle-friendly city.   Bike New London Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Early efforts including an annual event called BIKE FEST, free bicycle helmets and safety equipment, a donation-based Bike Share system, involvement in Complete Streets initiatives, installation of public bike racks, and advocating for bicycle lanes on Montauk Avenue.

In 2014, a partnership with New London Main Street and Ledge Light Health District's ACHIEVE Program made possible opening a Community Bicycle Shop.  Our volunteers were able to keep this initiative going long past the original 90 days of the popup program.

After 4 seasons in our original State Street storefront, we moved to Hodges Square.  Since March of 2019, we have helped hundreds of cyclists with reasonably priced refurbished bicycles, and repairs ranging from minor adjustments to full restorations.

Our skilled ALL VOLUNTEER staff of mechanics perform a wide range of repairs on bicycles of all types.  We offer fairly-priced bicycles for commuting, exercise, beginner riders, utility riding, and bicycle trail use.  100% of sales are donations which allow us to continue to serve all members of the New London community, regardless of income.
